Hey, dental babes! It’s Cait! Your DHN founder and CEO! Here at DHN we're always on the lookout for new dental besties that are more than just a product company. Five months ago I went to Eleuthera, Bahamas on an amazing journey to serve over 1,000 patients with free dental services. It was there where I met the founders of Twice toothpaste and I thought... Finally, a company that is more than just a toothpaste company and is why we chose them to be our Toothpaste of the Year!

What is Twice?

Twice is a clean oral care company founded by music icon Lenny Kravitz and Julian and Cody Levine, the brothers of world-renowned oral health expert Dr. Jonathan B. Levine. Twice toothpaste bridges the gap between oral care and health care by providing better-for-you toothpaste, specially formulated by using proven and effective ingredients. These products are focused on innovative oral health research and “clean beauty” for better overall health.

Our favorite part about Twice is how they deliver healthy new smiles to patients in need through real amazing non-profit work with Glo Good Foundation!

We sat down with Julian Levine, Founder & CEO of Twice, here’s what he had to say…

So, what's so special about Twice?

Not all toothpastes are created equal. In fact, at Twice, we think both your morning and evening toothpastes should be unique in their own special ways.

Our clean and delicious formulas combine critical performance benefits from trusted ingredients like fluoride and potassium nitrate with a unique modern blend of oral health ingredients like vitamins, antioxidants, and aloe vera. It’s science + wellness toothpaste created to inspire you and your patients to brush Twice a day.

How did you create Twice toothpaste?

We spent two long years formulating over 40 different prototypes. There are a plethora of toothpaste options on the market, so we didn’t want to create just another standard paste. We wanted Twice to be unique in that it reflects a perfect balance of proven science and modern wellness.

We worked with world-class dentists, chemists, flavor specialists and manufacturers to uniquely combine the most desired benefits of a toothpaste: whitening, anti-cavity, anti-sensitivity, enamel health and more.  

We wanted to ensure those benefits went hand in hand with the best oral health ingredients to soothe and hydrate gums, fight free radicals, control bacteria and so much more for a truly healthier and more confident smile.

We felt a great sense of responsibility to be very thoughtful and remove the unnecessary ingredients that can cause patients undesirable issues, like tissue irritation and canker sores from SLS. To top it off, we were committed to producing a vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, recyclable product that is not tested on animals. We care about our environment and our furry friends just as much as we care about our customers. There was no compromising on quality or standards. :)

We love your story, tell us why Twice exists?

Twice was created for two simple reasons: to improve the standard quality of oral hygiene products and to help deliver care to people in need through real non-profit work.

How did we arrive at this? Well, we were inspired by a life experience we had with The Glo Good Foundation. More than inspired, we had our lives changed because we saw what you all as hygienists see every day - the POWER of a smile. When dental care and a smile can change someone’s life, it is magical!

There is such beauty in what happens when someone experiences life-changing dentistry and the confidence that a renewed smile brings. Moreover, better oral health builds the foundation for better overall health, and this is what everyone needs.

Glo Good was created by our parents, Dr. Jonathan B. Levine and Stacey Levine and we have a shared mission - to help the world smile.

Our purpose is what drives us every day to create effective and clean products that give us the opportunity to give back to less fortunate communities. Twice is honored to donate toothpaste to each mission, as well as 10% of profits throughout the year. Thanks to our partnership with Glo Good, we strive to leverage a team of Twice PRO TEAM ambassadors who help us provide even more life-changing care through mission work. Together we have donated more than $2 million dollars of dental care.

You started an ambassador program, why?

Not only did we fall in love with the smile, we fell in love with dental professionals. Can you imagine growing up with a dentist as a father and never really knowing or seeing his power? Through Glo Good, we saw all of you dental professionals as life-changers and heroes. This was not something we had seen before! This gave us the drive we needed to create a product that’s so good and a brand so true, that dental professionals would want to recommend us and join our family.

The more I learned, the more I wanted to align Twice with the dental profession. There is no better team I can imagine for Twice than one filled with passionate dental pros. Our program, the Twice Pro Team, is meant to build a special community where everyone can learn, grow and win, together!
