Beginning a new year is the perfect time to set goals and implement plans to help you crush this year! Many times, large goals are set in the beginning of the year, which can make them harder to attain, as you’re constantly striving for the big picture, rather than achieving little bits of success each day. Instead, DHN is going to simplify some steps to help you easily and undoubtedly become a better YOU in 2019.
Meditation
Did you know that meditation helps balance your body’s systems? Your heart, body, nerves and mind can significantly improve with meditating regularly. Meditation also remarkably reduces stress, control anxiety and aid in patience & attention span. Taking time to meditate before bed can improve sleep, or try it in the morning to set the tone for your day! Remember, a clear and calm mind will help you accomplish other goals. Personal Development
Personal Development is really a lifelong goal, as you should never stop bettering yourself, however; personal development won’t happen on its own and we’re excited to share some tools that we’ve found to really start the process…..
• Podcasts • Personal Development Podcasts are an awesome way to put a pep-in-your-step in the right direction of becoming the best version of yourself! These podcasts are perfect to listen to while driving, at the gym, or even while you're getting ready in the morning.
• Developmental Books • We know, we know...we read enough books in Hygiene School! But unlike Hygiene books, these books will unstress you, rather than cause it ;) Taking time to read books like these will help you put the energy you'd usually use for every day stress, into making every day better. Here's some of our faves: "YOU are a Badass," "Get Over Your Damn Self," "Girl, Wash Your Face," and "Make Your Bed."
• Journaling • Sometimes, in the thick of it, you may forget why you're lucky to be where you are in life, why you're on this planet, or why you have so many things to be grateful for. Every day, write down 3 things you are thankful for or appreciate that day. Whenever you're feeling overwhelmed or like you need a boost, go back into the journal and reread all the reasons you should smile!
Exercise
Exercise....to clear your mind. Exercise for YOU. Not just because it will burn some calories, not just because you think you need to. Exercise because it's good for your mind, for the endorphins that will combat stress, for the feeling of air in your lungs! Exercise to move your body, simply because you can. Exercise even just 3-4 times a week and you will certainly notice a difference in the way you feel every day.
Get out of bed earlier! Yep, we said it...and you probably rolled your eyes! We get it, nothing is better than that extra hour of sleep; but imagine what you could accomplish in that hour. You could accomplish at least 2 of the things mentioned above, which would set a positive tone for your day. Just think, if you set the routine of setting a positive tone for your day, every day, soon enough you'll have positive weeks, positive months...and by 2020, you'll have had a positive year!
