Summertime is easily the most popular season…and for good reason! The air is warm, the sun is shining, your hair gets lighter and your face gets…..dryer?

Yep, Dental Babes, it happens to us too! Good ol’ Mr. Sun can shine his light on you a little too much and your face can become tight and dry…and your skin can even become damaged! That’s something we definitely don’t want, especially when we have a face-mask rubbing up against our cheeks and chin all week long!

It’s important to do our jobs well and to ensure we’re comfortable while doing it..and yes, that means making sure our skin is healthy, supple and radiant! We’ve gone around the office and we’ve done our research; we’re excited to bring you some of our favorite products that won’t break the bank, but will give your skin the drink it deserves! First, let’s go over some basics and then let’s take a look at our suggestions!

First and foremost, we all know the importance of taking care of your skin, but do we know all of the factors that go into having healthy skin? We won’t harp on the obvious, like needing to wear sunscreen and protecting yourself from harmful rays; instead we’re going to touch one some not-so-obvious factors!

-DRINK. YOUR. WATER. When your skin is dry or damaged, it’s going to look and feel dehydrated…because it is! You may think packing on lotions and creams is what it needs, and that’s true to an extent, but true hydration comes from within! You should be drinking your weight in ounces of water daily! PS: How cute is our ToothFairy Juice water-bottle!? It’s 32oz and is a big ol’ reminder to drink up daily!

-Your diet goes hand in hand with the water you’re drinking and how your skin may look and feel! The nutrients (or lack of) you put into your body can be reflected in your skin! 

-Moisturize immediately after washing, when skin is still moist! This helps lock the moisture into your skin!

 -Exfoliate! Get that dead skin off your face so beautiful, radiant skin can shine through!

-Go natural. This is a tip from the gal behind the blog here, hi! I absolutely swear by taking off making up with organic coconut oil. It gets everyyyyy little bitty gritty ounce off your face and is SO good for your skin! I pile it on and use it as a face mask when I'm feeling extra dry sometimes, too!

Nuetrogena HydroBoost Gel Cream:

This gel cream contains hydrating hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in the skin, and acts as a sponge for dry skin cells, absorbing up to 1,000 times its weight in water. It’s fragrance, dye and oil-free, whch is always a plus!

This product should be called ‘Miracle’ Surge instead. It’s truly one of the best products I’ve ever put on my face! It continuously moisturizes for 72 hours after application, and that includes after washing your face and showering...WHAAAT?! Honestly, this entire line should be a staple in any skincare routine!

This product is similar to our above product, in that it also has hyaluronic acid, which is a super important ingredient. However, this bad boy differs in that it has SPF in it – which is totally necessary when you’re avoiding wrinkles and age spots. Win, win! 

OK, SO…you might have naturally combination skin and these products may be a bit too hydrating for you. If that sounds familiar, we didn’t forget about you! Here’s a totally awesome moisturizer that really is (hence the name) ‘dramatically different.’

This lotion strengthens your skins moisture barrier, keeping 54% more moisture in! It absorbs quickly, so you don’t need to worry about it clinging to your combination oily spots. Want to know how we know it’s a winner? It was created by an award-winning dermatologist! 

Another great option for combination skin is Malin + Goetz, Vitamin E Face Moisturizer. It's known for balancing ALL skin types, so it won't over-saturate oily skin or under-saturate dry skin! It's a little pricer, but it's worth it! A little bit goes a long way!
